ENGLISH DESCRIPTION This book is basically a game, a game for the reader. The last story in the book "End of the Game" is simply the end of that joy that we feel when we read. Determined to go beyond the laws of conventional narrative, in these stories Julio Cortázar combines intertextuality, an unpublished use of the informal, and the never-ending game to make the reader enter a unique universe where nothing is what it seems. From the masterful Continuidad de los parques / Continuity of Parks, through to the magnificent childhood story Final de juego / End of the Game, this compilation offers the great diversity of the author's imagination and sensibility. With No se culpe a nadie / Don't Blame Anyone, Los venenos / Poisons, Las Ménades /The Maenades, Sobremesa / After-Dinner Conversation, La puerta condenada / The Shut Door, Después del Almuerzo / In the Afternoon, Axolotl / Axolotl, and La noche boca arribar / The Night Face Up. Final de juego is perhaps the most encompassing of Julio Cortazar's books.
